mcpspan

mcpspan Cloud

The same dashboard as a self-hosted installation, run by us, so there is nothing to install or keep up. Your server still runs the SDK; it sends to https://api.mcpspan.com instead of to your own machine.

Getting started

  1. Sign up at app.mcpspan.com and confirm your email.
  2. Signing up makes your first server and shows its key, once: copy it then. Settings has the line to add for each language, and makes more servers.
  3. Add the SDK to your MCP server, with the key and the cloud's address:
import { instrument } from 'mcpspan';

instrument(server, {
  apiKey: process.env.MCPSPAN_API_KEY,
  endpoint: 'https://api.mcpspan.com',
});

Or leave the code as it is and set two environment variables, which every SDK reads:

MCPSPAN_API_KEY=mcps_...
MCPSPAN_ENDPOINT=https://api.mcpspan.com

Restart the server. The SDK says hello when it starts, so the Status page shows the server as connected before anybody calls a tool. Each SDK's page in these docs covers the rest: TypeScript, Python, Go, C# / .NET, Java / Kotlin, Rust, Ruby, PHP.

An event is one call of a tool, resource or prompt; each session also sends one for the tool list it was shown. Until your email is confirmed, an account stores at most 10,000 events a month. Plans are chosen, changed and cancelled under Settings, Plan, and paid through Stripe. Need more than Pro? Write to [email protected]. Running it yourself instead is free: self-hosted and cloud, side by side.

Alerts

Settings, Notifications: a rule watches a server or some of its tools for errors past a threshold, or for calls stopping. Each rule sends its alerts by email to your account's address, to a Slack or Discord webhook, or both.

Over a limit

Past the month's events, the cloud turns batches away and the SDK drops them and keeps running: your server is never slowed or stopped by mcpspan. Events are taken again when the month turns (UTC) or the plan is raised. The dashboard says when you are close, and when you are over.

When a trial or plan ends

Events are no longer taken, and nothing else changes for a while: the dashboard still shows what was recorded. Fourteen days later the servers and everything they recorded are deleted, unless a plan has been chosen by then. We email you before the trial ends, when it has, and before anything is deleted.

Your data

As in a self-hosted installation, the values of a call's parameters never leave your server's process: mcpspan records which tool was called, by which client, how long it took and how it failed, not what was passed to it. Every list in the dashboard has a download link (CSV, or JSON one call a line). Deleting the account under Settings deletes everything at once. The privacy policy says what we keep, where, and for how long.
